66th annual Golden Globe Awards. Springsteen picks up the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song - Motion Picture for "The Wrestler". Bruce does not perform at this Golden Globe Award show and only gives a short acceptance speech. Mickey Rourke also picked up an award for his leading role in The Wrestler.

Rehearsal for the Obama Inaugural Celebration "We Are One" concert. Although the event's house band had prepared an arrangement of "The Rising", Bruce was moved enough by an initial rehearsal with just him and the gospel choir that the band arrangement was not even attempted.

According to the official press release: "Bruce Springsteen sat down with Dave Marsh, SIRIUS XM host and music journalist, to play music hand-picked by Bruce from his personal record collection. Bruce will share how he discovered each song and what he likes about the music in his commentary. SIRIUS XM listeners will hear Bruce playing a variety of music ranging from folk songs to contemporary music including hip hop and progressive rock."

Unlike the previous rehearsals, this one includes an audience: the 400 volunteer crew members who set up the stage! Bruce changes the lyrics to "Glory Days" to "he could throw that spiral rocket"—for the Super Bowl itself, he would adjust to "he could throw that Hail Mary."

Bruce and the band perform the half-time show at Super Bowl XLIII. A four-song medley is performed with all songs being shortened to be able to fit the 12-minute time slot of the half-time show. Bruce and the band are joined by a horn section (of Curt Ramm, Ed Manion, Mark Pender, Richie "La Bamba" Rosenberg, and Jerry Vivino) for the entire show and The Joyce Garrett Singers on "Working On A Dream".

Bruce attends the 32nd annual Kennedy Center Honors Gala Dinner after being honored at a White House reception. The event is part of the nation's highest honors for those who have defined American culture through the arts. Also honored are Robert De Niro, Mel Brooks, Dave Brubeck, and Grace Bumbry. Jon Stewart opens the tribute to Springsteen, and performers including John Mellencamp, Melissa Etheridge, Eddie Vedder, Jennifer Nettles, Ben Harper, and Sting cover Bruce's songs.

Filming of a live performance of Darkness On The Edge Of Town for the deluxe box-set of The Promise - The Darkness On The Edge Of Town Story, released November 15, 2010 (Europe) and November 16, 2010 (U.S.). At least two run-throughs of each track, performed in front of an empty theatre. Songs were not performed in album order. Just the original band that performed on the original album are present, with Charlie Giordano replacing the late Danny Federici.
