“This compilation consists of all (to my knowledge) circulating outtakes from Bruce’s first two albums. They were all recorded at the 914 Sound Studios, Blauvelt NY, between 1972-1973. (I have not included any of the solo demo’s [publishing demo’s, etc] from the same period.) “It was compiled from various bootlegs such as “Early Years”, “Born In The Studio” and more…
‘The Fever’ is from the official release ‘18 Tracks’ (but not on the Tracks box itself). Some of the outtakes can be heard on the Tracks box, but in different mixes/versions, and the same goes for the album tracks. I applied some level matching (and very slight equalization on a couple of tracks) with Toast.” - DrBanan
Years ago, it was a must-buy whenever a bootleg appeared with a Springsteen studio session whether it was an outtake or an alternate mix. Some boots were filled with substandard live
tracks that you had to wade through to find that one studio gem. Nowadays there’s plenty to choose from. This homemade compilation is a fine example of how good a collection fans can
make. The sound quality is first class and the listening experience comparable to an official release.
Thanks to DrBanan for sharing.
