| Fritz Roth | In 1973 I was working for a record one-stop on Long Island. Bruce was opening for the Paul Winter Consort for 4 nights. Paul Winter had just released his one and only album on Columbia Records Epic label and of course Greetings had just come out. I had seen the album and assumed from the lyrics on the back and continued on the inside that Bruce was a folkie. Columbia was very interested in having a full house there and had put several of us from the one-stop on the guest list for the Saturday shows. I was a big Paul Winter fan at the time and arrived in time for his first set. Bruce's second set was a revelation. I never bought another Paul Winter album. The best musicians in his band had left and formed the group Oregon, who I saw many times over the years. I've been a fan of Bruce's for over 50 years now. |
