Info & Setlist | Venue

One show, double bill, with Steel Mill headlining and Lotus opening. Following a nice show-opening "Dancing In The Street", Springsteen jokingly comments, "It's all happening out there in the street, so what are we doing in here?" Only known performance of the lengthy "Girlfriend Blues". During the epic "Garden State Parkway Blues", Bruce mentions driving through Ocean Grove on a Sunday, as well as the fireworks at the Freehold Raceway, both comments draw a noticeable crowd reaction. This partial setlist, which would represent only about half of a normal show's length, may in fact emanate from the following night or indeed from another stand altogether. When combining the sound of the audience size, the song selection, and the very limited bookings the band had during summer 1970, there is a strong likelihood this set (along with its circulating audio) is from either this night or the following night's show at the same venue. Bruce's comments indicate the audio is from an indoor summertime performance in the Asbury Park area; in the banter during "Girlfriend Blues", Bruce seems to refer to the Asbury Park riots that occurred between July 4 and July 10, 1970.
