This is a healthy (and quite unique), 19-song performance and an important show in historical terms because it exemplifies the changing nature of the setlist that took shape in August as the Born To Run album neared its promotional and official release dates. First known performance of "Backstreets" and one of the last of "New York City Serenade" for the tour. It is also the last known performance of the rare instrumental "Funk Song" (previously played on July 23 and July 28). Tour premiere for "Then She Kissed Me". "The E Street Shuffle" includes "Having A Party". "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" includes a snippet of "Theme From Shaft" in the midsection. "A Love So Fine" features both "Having A Party" and "Shout".

´´Bam !….there I was going through the darkness…..three in the morning, the rain was falling like a hurricane….on Ocean Avenue down in Asbury Park….got my collar up against the wind….running down the street….and all of a sudden way down in the corner …..I see this white….this thing like, uh….it´s like an illusion or something, you know….(?) ghost….I don´t believe in ghosts and stuff like that….but it was like this big ghost….so I crossed the street….and this thing, it crossed the street….so just to be safe, I crossed back to the other side….and whatever it was, it crossed back to the other side….I started to worry a little bit but I was calm…..I rolled up my jacket, I ducked into the nearest doorway, figured I was gonna stand there and wait for it to pass by….(?) was happening down the street, I figured I was in trouble ….I huddled in the darkness of this doorway and along comes this figure walking like there´s no rain, walking like it´s a beautiful summer day….and turns around, faces off right in front of me….right in front of me, Steve, like right….I was standing there….so….I wasn´t, I wasn´t too scared, you know, I was like….I was a little scared because it was dark and (?) 135 (?) so (chuckles)….I took all my money….out of my pockets and threw it on the ground…..and just to be safe, I figured I might be up against some crazy, cool thief, I took off my coat…. threw that down on the ground too….didn´t take no chances but….but whatever it was, it didn´t move an inch…. and slowly it put out its hand to me….(?)….and slowly I turned….and step by step…..until ….until….until it was, it was like…..Sparks fly on E Street…..”

´´There I was….standing….on the Main Street down here in Akron…..everybody was giving me these…..hard looks, you know….I was standing there (chuckles) looking around….hey Clarence….Clarence, I was wishing you was with me…..I was standing there on the corner….and along comes this cat walking slow and cool….walks right up to me…..looks me in the face….Steven, I´m telling you it was….in my face…..the dude was (?)….then he said….you know what he said, Clarence ?….he said…..´Here she comes´….”
