Held in the school's 5,000-seat Leavey Center. University Archives records indicate it contracted Springsteen & The E Street Band for this concert for just $7,000. A review by the Santa Cruz Sentinel indicates that attendance was around 3,500, and notes that "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" was played, while a second review in the school's Santa Clara adds the other songs listed, specifying that "Born To Run" was the closing song. A third review in the Palo Alto Times adds "The Promise" to the confirmed setlist. An extremely critical review ("Rude Gyrations Thrill Crowd") was printed in the Spartan Daily of San Jose University. Students objected to the negative tone of the review, which referred to the E Street Band as "degenerates," by sending a counterpoint to the paper's letters page a few days later.
