So last week, Bruce Springsteen was on Stephen Colbert's Late Show. In his interview, Bruce brought out “The” guitar. Well I have a connection, OK let’s say a brief encounter with “The” guitar. On November 18, 1978, while a senior at Miami University and a member of The Concert Board, we brought Bruce Springsteen and the East Street Band to Oxford, OH. Part of the duties of being on the Concert Board was to help set the stage for the concert. So I was following Bruce’s stage manager around and he tells me, “open that case and bring me that guitar.” When I opened the case, the guitar was “The” guitar. As I picked it up, my only thought was, don’t drop “The” guitar or your life as you know it will be over. I gently handed it to the stage manager and breathed a sigh of relief. The concert will go on! I do remember it was heavier than I thought it would be. So that night during the concert, I made sure I took a picture of Bruce with “The” guitar! ( a perk of being on the Concert Board was we got front row tickets.)
