´´I remember when I was growing up…my old man used to lock the frontdoor so that me and my sister used to have to come in around the side at night and he´d be sitting in the kitchen waiting for us….and….he´d be sitting there too long all night, all the lights´d be out…and he used to always ask you the same question, he wanted to know what I thought I was doing…. he´d say ´Bruce, what do you think you´re doing?´ (chuckles) you know, and I would try to tell him about the things that I wanted to do….and I guess they were so far away from the things that he thought I ought to be doing that we were never able to….to carry on much of a conversation, right (chuckles) I guess ´cause when I was, when I was growing up, I had all these big ideas, all these big dreams of the things I was gonna do and by that time he´d lost, he´d lost all those things or I felt that he´d lost all those things inside of him and all I remember was him sitting every night for 18 years that we lived together, sitting at home every night in the kitchen and it wasn´t till I got older that I realised….that he´d sit there all night long by himself…and I never once asked him, I never once asked him what he was thinking about….and….I guess he was, he was just dreaming too….well….´´

´´Thanks….I remember when I, when I wrote that song, I used to, I used to dream about Elvis singing it….and….I wrote that, it was in the beginning of, was in 1977 when we first worked on ´Darkness´….and it wasn´t, uh, wasn´t too much later that I remember I was sitting home and a friend of mine called me on the phone and told me that Elvis had died…. and I was thinking how he was only 42 and….how he must´ve….now, friends in this world, friends, having good friends around, people that, people that can help you out when you need ´em is an important thing….and I guess he didn´t, couldn´t have had too many of those….but ….this is a song, this is a song that I wrote for, for Elvis….´´
