Intro to "Tunnel Of Love"
´´Ready for a date? (crowd cheers)….´´
Intro to "All That Heaven Will Allow"
´´It feels like spring down here today…feels like summer….that´s nice, the weather gets nice and all them girls leave their winter clothes home….that´s when I like to take a walk in the park, you know, see who´s hanging around….hey, hey, man, yo! oh, what are you doing? (chuckles) how you doing? good to see you….I ain´t seen you in a little while, you never call me (?)(chuckles)….what´s you been up to? you´ve been married again, what you got? oh-oh, here come the baby pictures….there´s a little Big Man running around out there….he´s got little shades, a little saxophone….he looks good (chuckles) there´s gonna be a, in about fifteen years there´s gonna be a whole other version of the E Street Band out there…..a lot of little babies (chuckles) man, he looks good, is that his car? (chuckles) man, we used to, we used to sit on this bench in 1975….see, see there was this big office building down on the corner and me and Clarence would come down here and we´d pack like some sandwiches and a couple of bottles of beer in a little bag, you know….we had little napkins, we´d set it all out nicely (?) and then we´d just sit back and wait for when the girls got off from work….. (?) they used to get out right about this time, you know….here they come, here they come….. now don´t, don´t embarrass me (chuckles) check this girl in the, uh, the one in the blue skirt, here she comes, here she comes….(?)(chuckles) alright, alright, I´m sorry, alright (chuckles) man, I was, I was with you the night that you met your wife….we were overseas, Clarence came running into my room, said ´Bruce, I´m in love´….that´s not unusual….´Bruce, I met the girl I´m gonna marry´….that´s not unusual, Clarence was always meeting a girl he was gonna marry….and then you got married - that was unusual (chuckles) and you did it (chuckles)…. remember how it felt the first time you see that person you´re interested in comes walking in the room and they´re looking so good and you´re trying to be so cool? well, back, back in New Jersey, it feels kind of….it feels kind of like this, come on, Richie (the horn section starts singing a little background music)….oh yeah, how sweet it is! it´s kind of like that, you know….man, I gotta get going, I gotta be home like, like right when dinner gets on the table, I got to, and then I gotta be in bed by 11.30, you wouldn´t believe it….that´s when she goes to bed, I´ll see you later….good to see you….´´
Intro to "Spare Parts"
´´How you doing out there tonight, huh? (crowd cheers) how are you guys back there? (crowd cheers) in the rearview mirror….that´s good….right before, uh, we get ready to go out on tour, me and the band, we kind of go through this little ritual where we sit around at dinner someplace and start, I start telling all these old stories about, you know, the old times when we first started….now, they´ve all heard ´em, outside of living them, they´ve all heard ´em about a thousand times….but they´re always real polite and act like it´s not boring or whatever (chuckles) and I guess there´s something in telling those stories together again that makes us feel close again after we´ve been apart for a while….and the past, the past is a funny thing ´cause it´s something that binds us together and it´s also something that, if you ain´t careful, it will hold you down….if you end up living, living in your old dreams, dreams that don´t come true for you, the world kind of gets a handle on you, is able to break your heart over and over again if you don´t move on….well, this next song, this is a song about a woman trying to….put down the part of her past that´s holding her back….she´s trying to understand the value of her own individual existence….and the value of the life of her child ….it seems like no matter where we go or what we become, the value of our own lives always slips in and out on us….so I´d like to do this for a special friend of mine tonight and ….it´s a story of a woman trying to put her past behind her and find something new and beautiful and meaningful in her life….´´
Intro to "You Can Look"
´´This is a song about, uh….that great American pastime….shopping….now, I went out to buy a little tapeplayer the other day, you know, one to carry around with me so I got up real early so I´d go down to the mall, you know….get up early in the morning (?) I get down there and I get into a little….I guess it was a Sears and I went over in the electronics department, I started looking at the stuff, a woman comes up and says ´You gonna buy that thing?´….and she looks at me and she says, uh, ´Ain´t you, ain´t you, uh, that rock´n´roll singer?….Do you wanna buy that thing?´….she says ´You know, I, I like, I like your videos….now tell me was that, was that girl, was she like, was she really in the audience or did you hire her, you know the one you danced with?´….then she says ´Do you wanna buy that thing?´….I said ´Lady, I wanna smash this fucking thing right now´….´´
Intro to "I´m A Coward"
´´Is there anybody alive out there tonight? (crowd cheers) is there anybody with the living spirit out there tonight? (crowd cheers) that´s good….because….because what I wanna know is are there any tough Maryland or Washington men out there tonight? (men cheer) are there any macho men out there tonight? (men cheer) because I´ve seen men that would swim rivers, that would climb mountains….that would wrestle with the beasts of the jungle but there was one thing they was afraid of…..and I´m gonna tell you what that one thing was ….that one thing was L-U-V, I´m talking about love….love scared ´em…..made ´em home to their mommies like little babies….now, are there any brave, courageous, young women out there tonight? (women cheer) do we have any macho girls out there tonight? (women cheer) that´s good because I´m talking to you too….´cause I´ve known women that would get into a canoe and go down the Amazon river, wrestle with the crocodiles and alligators and crawling king snakes….but there was one thing they was afraid of, they were afraid of love, love scared ´em….now I´m down here tonight because I have a burden I need to lay down, because I have to testify to you….and what I wanna say is….I have sinned!…..and I don´t need no Jimmy Swaggert, no Jim Baker, no Pat Robertson to forgive me…..them boys can kiss my ass, baby…. and that Jerry Falwell, he can kiss my ass twice…..because what I wanna say is I ain´t afraid of men or beasts - no, Sir! no, Sir!….but what I´ve got to confess to is….that I´m a coward…..when it comes to love….´´
Intro to "Part Man Part Monkey"
´´They had this movie on, uh, last week, it was with Kirk Douglas and, uh….another fellow, it was about the Scopes´ Trial….they had, it went kind of, kind of like this, I couldn´t believe it….´´
Towards the end of "Dancing In The Dark"
´´Have you ever been so lonely….that you just wanna lock yourself up in your room?…. you´re living inside your head too much…that´s when you wanna reach out….to somebody who´ll remind you that you´re a real human being….that´s when I wanna say….that´s when I wanna say….I wanna say where were all you girls when I was in high school?…hey, come on, baby….´´
Middle of "Light Of Day"
´´Now move over, Rover, let Brucie take over….on the piano, Professor Roy Bittan….on the drums, the Mighty Max Weinberg….on the guitar and vocals, Miss Patti Scialfa….on the guitar, the great Nils Lofgren…..on the organ, Mr.Dan Federici….on the bass, Mr.Garry W.Tallent….on the horns we got Eddie ´Kingfish´, Richie La Bamba, Mark ´The Love Man´, Mike, Mario Cruz, the Tunnel of Love horns….and last but not least….his royal majesty…. the man don´t need to be elected, he was born that way, the greatest human being in the history of the Western civilization….Clarence ´The Big Man´ Clemons on the saxophone….´´
Intro to "Born To Run"
´´(the beginning of the intro is missing)….we were trying to decide whether to come out on tour or not, I was thinking of the songs that I wanted to do and….I knew that I wanted to come out and sing a new song - that´s my job….what I wanted to kind of talk about and sing to you about…..and, uh, this was a song that I´ve played, ooh, I wrote it about fifteen years ago now, I guess….I was 24 years old, I was sitting on the end of my bed in Long Branch, New Jersey….and uh….I guess it surprises me now how much I knew about myself back then ´cause it seems like I´ve been spending just about all my time in my life ever since trying to answer the questions that I asked myself in this song….this is, uh…..I wrote this song, I guess I thought I was writing about a guy and a girl who wanted to run and keep on running and never come back…..but, uh, as I got older and as I sang this song through the years, I realized that what they were really doing was they were out there looking for something, searching for something better….and that individual freedom, in and of itself, is pretty meaningless unless it´s tied into people and friends and community….and what those two people were really looking for was, I guess, someplace that they could call ´home´….and, uh, as I got older, I realized that it wasn´t out there but that it was buried deep inside of here somewhere….it´s a hard thing to find and a hard thing to hold on to….but this song´s kept me pretty good company on my search, I hope it´s kept you good company on your search….I´d like to do it for you and dedicate it to you tonight, wishing you best of everything….´´
Intro to "Hungry Heart"
´´Good luck out there!….´´
Intro to "Glory Days"
´´Now this is for all you old suckers out there….´´
Intro to "Love Me Tender"
´´Thanks….I´d like to thank everybody for coming down to the show tonight….I´d like to do this for you and….and your sweetheart….´´
Intro to "Rosalita"
´´Well….now to settle up the questions of the evening….does the hero get the girl?….does her mama come down and put a stop to it?….does her daddy come down and bust his head?…. does he end up broke, busted and disgusted?….the answer to these and other mysteries will now be revealed….´´
Intro to "Detroit Medley"
´´That ain´t the end of the story….they got in the car, they drove away, they went down the highway, they drove, they drove, they stopped in a little bar, there was a little band on the bandstand, they got a couple of beers, the band leader said ´One, two, three, four´…..´´
Intro to "Raise Your Hand"
´´Are you ready for some religious liberation? (crowd cheers) for some spiritual affirmation? (crowd cheers) for some sexual consummation? (crowd cheers) then raise your hand one time….
(….) Before I go, there´s one last thing I´ve got to know….is there something you want? (crowd cheers) is there something you need? (crowd cheers) is there something you´ve got to have? (crowd cheers) then just raise your hand…..´´
