Intro to "Dancing in the Dark"
”Thank you….thank you very much…..so how you been out there ? (cheers)….this is, uh…this is the last night of our European tour here , uh….so it might get very strange here (chuckles)….
(…..) Yeah….I know you’re out there somewhere….”
Intro to "If I Should Fall Behind"
”Thank you….I was, uh….I was telling the folks last night that that song I wrote I was 28….and uh….it’s , that’s kind of a young man’s song who’s feeling old (chuckles)…. and uh….I guess I was going through, uh….whatever at the time, this next song, this is sort of, uh….I guess it’s kind of, uh….I’d hate to say old man’s song (chuckles)….but I’m feeling young (?) (chuckles)(cheers)…you know, so much of my music was… particularly when I….you know when I was a little younger…..I wrote about the kind of a world, vision of a world without limitations…..where….if you just had the nerve to get up and get in that car….that something was gonna be waiting for you…..that was true and sometimes it´s just a shit load of trouble (chuckles)….but uh….uh…..I guess it’s some of my…my newer songs are sort of about realising as you get older that…. that there’s blessings and commitments and some limitations…..there’s blessings in realising what your limitations are and finding out….how to live within them….and uh….I guess this song is about…..you know….uh, it’s about not holding back…..not holding back (?) the love you got inside, not holding it back from your partner or from your…kids or from ….I don’t know why people spend so much time holding the best of themselves back but uh….you can’t take it with you so tonight’s the night you let go (cheers)….”
Intro to "57 Channels"
”There’s tough times in the States….right before we came over….you could see the whole city of Los Angeles on fire….there are people who been cut out so that they don’t get the….the small respect….the modest respect that it takes to find a place for yourself….bring up your kids, make sure your kids are safe when they’re walking to school…no answers in (?)…”
Intro to "My Hometown"
”Thank you….(?) kids, yeah….they uh…..got any moms and pops out there tonight ? (cheers)….(chuckles) that’s good….you know, uh…things change a lot once you have those…those little babies running around and stuff….man, I’m doing things I never thought I’d be doing…..and uh….it’s funny, it changes the way that you…..takes you outta your own head…..it’s kind of, it’s a good thing, you know, it takes you from being so….kinda self-centered , you know, kid, ‘cause kids are always asking you to come out….you know, it’s like when you’re….if you’re just like a musician or an artist, you know, artists just spen a whole lotta time just thinking about….themselves, you know (chuckles)….it’s part of the job, I guess, but uh…..kids are great because they, they always ask you to come out, come outside of your own head….they want you to come and play or come out and sit or just to come out and be in the real world with them , you know (cheers)….and uh….that’s a good thing, that’s a good thing….and uh….I guess this song, I wrote this song….ten years ago, I was imagining myself as a dad at the time….even though I really couldn’t imagine it…..and uh…..I guess kind of a (?) of this song is two things : one is nothing you ever do for a child is wasted…..because uh……you know all those little memories you got running around in your head (chuckles)….before you go to sleep at night, you remember the time your dad did this, your mom did this for you….I always used to think back to when my dad used to put me in the car and let me pretend like I was driving…..and uh…..you know, you’ll be driving along….out in the country somewhere and you smell something that kinda takes you back 15, 20 years….to something that uh….that you never ever ever gonna forget , you know (cheers)….so….two, I guess, nothing you ever do for your kids is wasted and also when I wrote this song, I was trying to think about what is the legacy that we leave….to our children, you know, what kinda world do we leave ‘em, what kinda town do we leave ‘em, what kinda spirit do we, you know…..do we, do we leave ‘em with, you know, they sort of , they make you wanna….they always make you wanna be better or stronger and try to overcome some of your failures and weaknesses….anyway, you know, not to go on and on about it but, uh….I’ve been enjoying it (chuckles)(cheers)….so…you know, be strong for ‘em, be strong (chuckles) ….this is something I wanna do tonight from my kids to your kids , wishing ‘em all the best….”
Intro to "Leap of Faith"
”Thank you very much…..yes indeed….now we’re gonna get to the romantic portion of the show (cheers)…..do we have any romantics out there ? (cheers)…is there anybody out there in love tonight ? (cheers)…..that’s good because we got a sponsor tonight….that’s right, we got a sponsor, I’m being sponsored up here….now, I ain’t gonna try to sell you no sneakers and I’m not gonna try to sell you no soda pop…. there are a few items out in the hallway during intermission but I’m not gonna mention those right now because we are sponsored tonight by….(crowd : ”Love!”) oh, testify please, that’s right (chuckles)….by love….now what I wanna know’s is there anybody that been stepped on , messed around , punched down , had their souls and hearts driven into the dirt, a spike driven through their guts, been all fucked up by love at some time or another (cheers)….Thank you…yeah, let me hear about it, thank you for your honesty…..but you keep coming back, you meet somebody new, you keep coming back and to do that, it takes….(crowd : ”Faith !”) oh, somebody’s been here before….alright (chuckles)….it takes faith, that’s right…..because to have love, you gotta have faith, to have faith you gotta have a little hope so this is a song about love, it’s a song about faith, it’s a song about hope, it’s a song that describes bizarre ritualistic sexual practises (cheers)….and it’s all a 100 percent , completely autobiographical (cheers) …..so….love, love, love, love, love, enjoy, enjoy….”
Intro to "Real Man"
”Alright, this next song, this next song was so corny….so corny I almost threw it off the album but I didn’t because it’s how….I feel (chuckles)…”
Intro to "Thunder Road"
”Thank you, thank you ….oh yeah…oh yeah….I wanna do this for any of my old fans out there tonight (cheers)….I first came here in 1975 (cheers)…..and uh….I wanna say that uh…people of London have treated us well every time we’ve come over and uh (cheers)…I appreciate it…”
Middle of "Glory Days"
”This is the part of the show where I kinda….I take a little breather, you know what I mean…..I mean not that I have to or anything…..because uh….I know what you’re thinking out there…..I know what you’re thinking….but I ain’t gonna say nothing…. (introduces the band)….I know what you’re thinking , you’re thinking that uh….let me see….I ain’t been here in about four years that means that I was ….in my thirties, kinda (?)…you’re thinking that I might not be able to carry on….you’re thinking that now that I’m past that big four zero, I might not have what I had…..you’re thinking that now I live in thta big fancy house (?) in Beverly Hills, that I’m lazy and fat and I might not be able to carry on…..ladies and gentlemen. I’m here tonight to testify , I’m here to bring witness to the fact……that not only am I not tired (cheers)….but I’m gonna issue a challenge to the audience tonight (cheers)….can you keep going ? (cheers)….can you keep going ? (cheers)….can you keep going ? (cheers)….if you can, then let me hear you…”
Intro to "Follow That Dream"
”Thank you so much, thank you so much……this is uh…..this is our last night here in London and uh….I’d like to thank everybody for coming down to the shows here, thank you very much (cheers)…..I just wanna say , uh…..I been around a little while now and uh…I wanna let you know I appreciate, really appreciate your enduring support (cheers)….this is a song I got off an Elvis Presley record…..changed the words around a little bit, changed the melody….but uh….gonna do it for you tonight….”
Intro to "Born to Run"
”Thank you so much……before we, uh…..before we go on, I’d like to just take a second and I’d like to thank my crew who’ve done an unbelievable job on the European tour here (cheers)….they work so hard behind the scenes, they don’t get to dance around and shake their butts in the spotlight (chuckles)….so I’d like to give a real round applause in thanks to all the crewmembers (cheers)….then I’d like to add a special thanks…..to my band who’ve worked so hard (cheers)….and who have given me their souls, their spirits and their hearts, thank you very much (cheers)….”
