I got the pictures, I’m one of those obnoxious parent types (chuckles) anyway, kind of the things that they tell you, you know, I see a lot of folks here with their kids tonight and, uh…sort of what they say all those clichés about, how, you know, the world looks different after you have, after you have those little babies because…I think before that the future sort of remains this very abstract sort of thing, it’s hard to see past yourself a lot and then after I think you got the future’s right there pissing on your leg, you know, so (laughs from the crowd) so that brings it all home real (chuckles) makes it really real (chuckles) you go “Oooh!” (chuckles) but uh…I don’t know, you start thinking about a lot of things in life…I think that…I lived through those Los Angeles riots, as sort of everybody had the chance to do thanks to television, and we got a glimpse of our society on a particular day when it didn’t matter who you were, it didn’t matter where you stood or what you believed in or what you felt in your heart, it only mattered what you looked like as to whether you were gonna live or die…and, uh, that’s a scary world for kids to grow up in, you know, real scary…so this is a song, this song I guess this is…this is a song, maybe it’s one of my best songs about, uh, communication – yeah (chuckles) it’s sort of about getting the small things right and hoping that the big things will follow so…so if you came with your lovers or your babies or your wives or whatever, I’m gonna do this for you tonight – and I’m also gonna do this wishing Bill Clinton good luck (crowd cheers) so… anyway…see if I can get it right…”
