Middle of "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out"
´´Good evening !….now, I´ve got a story to tell…..it´s kind of a fable, it´s not completely true but it´s mostly true, the important parts are true…now, when I was a young man, I walked as a little child….and you know how when you´re a child, sometimes you´re in the woods and, and it´s getting late and the sun´s going down and you´re becoming frightened….but I guess as we grow, we´re supposed to grow out of our childish fears but….that doesn´t happen all the time and I found myself, as a young man…..standing in that….forest in front of that dark grove of trees, frightened to pass on through to the other side….now, what was on the other side was….was the river of life….and the river of life….and the river of companionship and friendship and cold beer at a reasonable price….but I couldn´t get there because I was frightened….and I realised I couldn´t get there because I was alone and sometimes to make it through that dark forest, you need a hand to hold on to or somebody to walk by your side…..and so now tonight I want to get through that forest to the river of life…..to that river of love and faith and I want you to help me get there and I´ll help you get there…..(sings ´Take Me to the River´)….now as I stood….in the dark before those woods only one thing led me on and that was in the distance I heard something sweet coming through the trees (Roy plays)….and it was Professor Roy Bittan….playing in the middle of the goddamn woods, oh my God…. and then I walked on through the forest searching for some friendship and I heard a man, come on, Steve (Steve plays a bit of ´Theme from ´The Godfather´) the Godfather of rock and roll guitar, Steve Van Zandt….and then I walked on through the forest….and the ground beneath me started to rumble and I heard (Garry plays a bit of ´We Gotta Get Out Of This Place´) Mr.Garry W.Tallent on the bass….he´s an animal ! (chuckles) and then I walked on through the forest and I heard something in the distance, come on, Max (Max plays) Mighty Max Weinberg on the drums….there´s only one, there it is….and then I walked on through the forest and I heard a little guitar man, come on, man (Nils plays) Mr.Nils Lofgren on the guitar ….and then I walked on through the forest….and I heard something like the wind whistling in the trees, swishing and swirling around over my head, come on, Dan (Dan plays) Phantom Dan Federici…..and then I walked on through the forest….and I realised I was feeling so lonely….but I looked above my head and I saw the bluebird of love flying from tree to tree and it came down and it had a visitation on me, he sat on my shoulder and he whispered in my ear ´Brunettes are fine, blondes are fun but when it comes to getting a dirty job done, you need a (crowd : ´Red Headed Woman´) oh, man, I´m searching for a (crowd : ´Red Headed Woman´) yeah, I said I´ve got to find a (crowd : ´Red Headed Woman´) deep in the forest now (crowd : ´Red Headed Woman´) oh, babe, I´m looking for a (crowd : ´Red Headed Woman´) yeah, man, I´m coming for my (crowd : ´Red Headed Woman´) I´ve got to find myself (crowd : ´Red Headed Woman´) somewhere in that forest, baby (crowd : ´Red Headed Woman´) go on, sugar, now (Patti sings a bit ´Rumble Doll´) Miss Patti Scialfa on the guitar and vocals….thank you, bluebird of love !…. and now I was coming out of the forest on the far side….and there was still something very important missing….something really, really essential….that I hadn´t found yet…..something deep in my soul….and as I came out of the forest….standing by the river I saw….say who ?…say who ?….say who ?….say who ?….say who ?…. say who ?….say who ?….say who ?….say who ?….say who ?…..say who ?….say who ?….louder….”
