Intro to “Magic”
“Good evening, Chicago! (crowd cheers) thanks for coming out (crowd cheers) here’s the title song from our new record…I wrote it ‘cause we’ve been passing through times when…the truth is hard to get your hands around and so the truth can be made to seem like lies and a lie can be made to seem true and, uh…so this song is not quite about magic, it’s about tricks…”
Intro to “Livin’ in the Future”
“Good evening, Chicago! (crowd cheers) I’m so glad to be in your beautiful city tonight (crowd cheers) that’s right…this is a song called “Livin’ in the future” but it’s about what’s happening now… how along with all the things that we love about our home and about America: cheeseburgers (crowd cheers) trans-fats…the Bill of Rights (crowd cheers) Wrigley Field (crowd cheers, some boos) (laughs)…White Sox (?)(crowd cheers) I see a divided city…how along with all those things that we love about the place that we call “home,” we’ve had to add over the past six years things like rendition and illegal wiretapping and rolling-back of civil liberties and no Habeas Corpus, no right to defend yourself against charges in court…this is, uh…and maybe because of the color of your skin or your circumstance or your religion, you may feel that these things don’t have a lot of effect on you but they’re an attack on our Constitution, which means they are an attack on our very selves (crowd cheers) it affects our moral authority and our pride when we stand up and say “We are the Americans”…so this is a song about sleeping through changes that shouldn’t have happened here that have happened here…so tonight we’re gonna do something about it right now (crowd cheers) we’re gonna sing about it…that’s the start and the rest is up to us…alright, Max…whenever you feel it…”

Intro to “Thundercrack”
“Thank you (crowd cheers) this is, uh…this was our first showstopper back, uh, probably Quiet Knight? yeah…nobody remembers that one (chuckles) yeah…way back, way back, way back, way back, way back, way back…way back before the fire, that’s right, that’s how far back…”
