“Good evening, Pittsburgh! (crowd cheers) woo!…oh yes, it´s nice to be here (crowd cheers) Patti sends her regards, she´s on, uh, emergency leave, we have three teenagers…I´d say things are getting ugly right about now (chuckles)…this is a song from, uh… from our smash LP, “Magic,” it´s the title song…it was a smash for a little while, now it´s kind of a quiet smash (chuckles) this is a song, this is the title song “Magic,” it´s about living through a time when you see the truth twisted into lies and lies turned into the truth and the wheel of history spins round and round and we´re all along for the ride so…this really isn´t about magic, it´s about tricks …”
Intro to “Livin´ in the Future”
“Alright…good evening, Pittsburgh! (crowd cheers) we´re so glad to be in your beautiful city tonight (crowd cheers) that´s right…this is a song called “Livin´ In The Future”…but it´s about what´s happening now…how along with all the wonderful things that we love about America and the place we come from and our homes… the things that are so worth fighting for, over the past six years we´ve had to add to the American picture like rendition and illegal wiretapping, the rolling-back of civil liberties, no Habeas Corpus, the right to defend yourself against charges brought against you… and because of the color of your skin or your circumstance or your religion, you might feel that these things don´t have an immediate impact on your life but all of these things are an attack on our Constitution, which means they´re an attack on our selves as Americans (crowd cheers) so this is a song about sleeping through changes that shouldn´t have happened here that have happened here…and the E Street Band has rolled into town tonight to do something about it! (crowd cheers) we´re gonna sing about it… we´re musicians…that´s a start, then it´s up to, up to all of us, anyway…Max!…”

Intro to “Youngstown”
“Thank you, Pittsburgh (crowd cheers) alright…we got some, uh… we got some friends of ours in the hall tonight, some folks from the Rainbow Kitchen and Just Harvest…Rainbow Kitchen provides hot meals, groceries and supportive services…they assist more than a thousand low-income people in the Pittsburgh area each year…and Just Harvest focuses on long-term solutions to hunger, they serve as a powerful voice for the struggling citizens here in Pittsburgh, they work for a stronger safety net of public programs, for food stamps at school breakfasts, Just Harvest here, these are folks that are out on the frontlines doing God´s work here in the Pittsburgh area (crowd cheers) and, uh, this was the first place we ever worked with the network of foodbanks that we´ve worked with over the years, many years ago I came here and met a fellow named Ron Weisman…and, uh, he´s a labor, labor leader here in Pittsburgh, he came backstage to guide me on the Steelworkers´ Foodbank and we got working with him up here and he connected us up eventually all across the country so, uh (crowd cheers)… anyway, this is, uh…we should do something here tonight…we got, uh…we´ll get to that…[changes guitars and strums his acoustic guitar, trying out the chords to “Youngstown,” which comes in the place planned for “Girls in Their Summer Clothes”]…alright, gonna do this one for…we don´t do much acoustic stuff on this tour but I´m gonna do this tonight for…(?)…”
