Intro to “Radio Nowhere”
“Alright, London! (crowd cheers) you´ll be [changed?] right now! (chuckles) come on, Steve!…”
Intro to “Magic”
“Good evening, London (crowd cheers) thanks for, thanks for coming out tonight…in this very big building, this is a big building (chuckles) it´s alright, we are the big building killers, that´s the name of our (crowd cheers) also known as the dead ass killers for you, you folks in your seats (chuckles) anyway, this is the title song from our…from our new record, this is sort of…unfortunately we´ve lived through six years of George Bush and unfortunately you´ve had to also (crowd cheers) but it was, uh, I´ve lived a little while now and it was still astonishing to watch the truth twisted into lies and lies get turned and turned till they…till they sounded like the truth and watch such a terrible tragedy occur so, uh, this is called “Magic,” it´s not really about magic, it´s really about tricks…”
Intro to “Livin´ in the Future”
“Good evening, London! (crowd cheers) we´re so glad to be here in your beautiful city tonight! (crowd cheers)…this is a song called “Livin´ in the Future”…but it´s about what´s happening now…where we come from…how along with all the things that we love about our home and America, over the past six years we´ve had to add to the American picture things like rendition and illegal wiretapping and the rolling-back of civil liberties and no Habeas Corpus – that´s the right to defend yourself against charges brought against you in court – these are all changes that would have seemed impossible and, uh, it shows what a little bit of fear and demagoguery will do but it´s, this is a song about sleeping through things, sleeping through changes that you never thought you´d see so…but the mighty E Street Band is here to do something about it! (crowd cheers) we´re gonna sing about it…we´re musicians (chuckles) we´ll see where that takes us – Max, help me out…”
Intro to “Racing in the Street”
“Alright, you´ve been, you´ve been following us around for about two months so (chuckles) with that one sign so we´re gonna get that one for you tonight, uh…play it, Roy…”
Intro to “Girls in Their Summer Clothes”
“(chuckles) Thank you, thanks for coming out to the show tonight (crowd cheers) an excellent building this building, an excellent building…alright…this is, uh, we do have some friends with us in the hall tonight, folks from Crisis U.K, they´re right here in London (crowd cheers) yes, since 1967, Crisis U.K, they´ve worked year round to help the vulnerable and marginalized struggling citizens of London through crisis of homelessness, which this time of year falls just unbearably heavy on people´s shoulders (crowd cheers) they´re helping to transform their lives and in 2004 they used this very venue right here as a homeless shelter during the cold winter so if you see them on your way out, help out Crisis U.K, and this is for all the London girls (crowd cheers) the London girls (crowd cheers) it´s like a fantasy of ours, come on – the London girls (crowd cheers) yeah, oh, and one from New Jersey who sends her love and regards…”
Intro to “Jungleland”
“Alright…alright, we got that one for you…this is for this gentleman and London, here we go, go ahead…”
Intro to “Born to Run”
“Thank you, this is for Mike and Charlie Smith…”
Middle of “American Land”
“Garry W. Tallent (crowd cheers) Little Steven (?)(crowd cheers) Sister Soozie Tyrell (crowd cheers) the mighty Mighty Max Weinberg (crowd cheers) Professor Roy Bittan (crowd cheers) in for Dan Federici, Charlie Giordano (crowd cheers) Nils Lofgren (crowd cheers) and the next king of England: Clarence “Big Man” Clemons (crowd cheers) London, you´ve just seen the heart-stopping, pants-dropping, hard-rocking, earth-shocking, booty-quaking, love-making, Viagra-taking, history-making, legendary (crowd: “E Street Band”)…”
Intro to “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town”
“Come on, Roy (Roy starts the piano intro) do you believe in Santa Claus? (crowd cheers) do you believe in Santa Claus? (crowd cheers)…
(…) Oh, thank you for a great night, London (crowd cheers) (Clarence: “Ho-ho-ho!”) Stevie, I think I hear him, man… here he comes over the North Pole…he´s on his way…he´s on his way…do you believe in Santa Claus? (crowd cheers)…”

BadgeBlade | This was our eighth concert. First was during The Tunnel of Love tour at Bramall Lane, Sheffield. The level of brilliance remains undiminished. I'm becoming tired of trying to explain to non devotees just how good these concerts are. Nowadays I just tell them to try for a ticket and go! Satisfaction is guaranteed. As others have already mentioned, Bruce defies nature. Just where does he get the energy? He gives everything to each song and no matter how many times he sings them, they always sound fresh. Already got tickets for London and Cardiff next summer. Counting down the days!!! |
BornToRunWithBruce | Last time I saw the boss it was at Wembley Arena with the Seeger Sessions Band. The show was amazing and Bruce managed to rock out the show with folk. When I heard I got tickets to see the E-street band I was exited but I was sceptical wheather it could top the show the year before. How wrong I was. When he came out on stage he blasted in with Radio Nowhere. The song was amazing on the CD, but live bought a new perspective to it. I absolutely loved Because the Night and Working on the Highway. Clarence Clemons was amazing hit every note on Jungleland. Loved Girls In Their Summer Clothes and Born To Run. Cant wait to see Bruce again in the summer at the Emirates Stadium. |
G.J. | Haven't seen Bruce since the early 80's when I saw him 4 times on the River tour. Still puts on a fantastic show, the older tunes still stand the test of time. Thought the 02 was an OK venue, and the sound was pretty good after the first couple of songs. But my complaint is we sat on the 4th tier which as high but a good view, My kids and I were standing up singing and dancing and having a great time which is after all what the Boss is all about…. but lots of old farts where asking us to sit down so they could watch in comfort and other such bollocks… for Christ sake go and watch Micheal Bublé or Coldplay . Too many middle class corporate types just like at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.Rock and Roll belongs to the people, + when did private boxes and VIP areas come into being… I still go to lots of gigs, but in smaller venues to see mainly new bands. Good luck Bruce and the E Street band you can still deliver but 50% of the fans should have stayed and home and watched Strictly Come Dancing. |
Pienelien | Just played this to remind me of the fantastic night we had. Boy what a once ion a life-time concert. Lotte and I still smiling on the inside. Great. Thanks Bruce, thanks Dutchie and Patrolman, Leyla and everyone else that made this a brilliant night! Thanks filmer… what great footage. And seeing all these peeps behind you… freightning… you have no clue when you're propped up against the front. |
Rob M. | Great show agreed. Not so sure about the venue, what's with the standing section — General admission standing stopped with a barrier thirty foot from the stage. Who were the people in the pit right in front of the stage and why was there a huge space stage right for them to frollick in? I suspect record company whores but then towards the end Bruce pointed out some people that'd been following him all around Europe. The people pinned into the section further back looked pretty static all the way through. I was up in section 4 with an oxygen mask but found the anomaly a little off putting. If some one could clear this mystery up for me I'd rest easier. Thanks. |
Simon | I shouldn't really be surprised after all these years of Bruce watching, but he seemed to hit a whole new level on Wednesday night at the O2. The pre-show queuing situation was a disaster (try some planning please O2 folks!), so I was ready by 8:30 when the band hit the stage. But from the second they crashed into "Radio Nowhere" and his Bruceness was all but drowned out by the mighty massed chorus from the floor, I was overwhelmed by the sheer power and intensity of this show. Even by E Street standards, this was relentless, merciless rock and roll. The pace never slackened, words were few and far between, and just about everything was a highlight. Clarence was on top form, nailing everything including a stupendous "Jungleland". Nils' solo on "Because the Night" was staggering even by his scarcely credible standards. Roy's playout on a magnificent "Racing in the Streets" was simply beautiful. Bruce was electrifying all night (how does a 58 year old do that for 150 minutes for God's sake?) and the atmosphere down on the dance floor was joyous. Special mention for the priceless ear muffs with Santa bobble forced upon a mortified Steve — it's lucky the Sopranos have finished, or he might be drummed out of the family for that! Possibly the best Springsteen show I've seen. |
Tim | For Rob M. About half the people in the pit were those who had queued since lunchtime to get into there - we were amongst them - they were shamefully joined about 10 minutes before the show by I guess what could be called the prawn sandwich brigade who.. oh don't get me started :-) Anyway, the dedicated Bruce fans who made it in had a great time! |
