“Good evening, brothers and sisters of Long Island! (crowd cheers) we´re so glad to be here in the beautiful Nassau Coliseum this evening (crowd cheers) I want you to step right up, are you ready to be transformed? (crowd cheers) are you ready to jump, shout and crawl on your belly like a reptile? (crowd cheers) then what I wanna know is is there anybody alive out there? (crowd cheers) is there anybody alive out there? (crowd cheers) is there anybody alive out there? (crowd cheers) is there anybody alive out there? (crowd cheers)…”

Intro to “Magic”
“Good evening, Long Island (crowd cheers) oh, oh, half-brothers and –sisters of New Jersey, that´s right (crowd cheers) we are the flipside, we are each other´s mirror image, that´s (chuckles) great to be here tonight in the home of Professor Roy Bittan, Rockaway! Intro to “Livin´ in the Future”
“Long Island! (crowd cheers) we´re so glad to be here tonight… birthday?…you´re a birthday girl? happy birthday, baby…this is a song called “Livin´ in the Future”…but it´s about what´s happening now…it´s about sleeping through changes that happened here that you never thought as a kid growing up…things like rendition, illegal wiretapping, the rolling-back of civil liberties – those were the things that happened someplace else, in somebody else´s country…
this is about sleeping through changes that you never thought you´d see come to pass…but tonight the mighty E Street Band is here tonight to do something about it (crowd cheers) we´re gonna sing about it!…that´ll show ´em…but you may think that because of your race or your religion that these things don´t have an impact on your life but what´s been going on in the past seven years has been an affront to the Constitution (crowd cheers) that it´s our duty both to serve and protect so, Max, help me tell the story…”

Poet | Tour de force — the best rockin' show this tour! Adam Raised the Cain, Night, Because the Night, Incident and Jungleland!! Wham-bam, they came in like a tornado and blew out the same way! |
R.P. McMurphy | Bruce — have to thank you for several things: Playing INCIDENT! and JUNGLELAND! Kickass awesome! Keeping ROCK 'N' ROLL ALIVE, baby! That's the way to do it. It's primal, sweaty, powerful, exhilirating, thought-provoking and salvational! Best damn show I've seen of the 12 on this tour! Thanks also for keeping the prices affordable, unlike these money-hungry artist who somehow justify charging their fans $200-$400 a tk for shows that aren't half as exciting, real or honest as yours. Hats off to you and the E Street Band — always were and always will be the best in my book! |
Tom Cantillon | Scoring GA tks for $30 right before the show was the beginning of a fantastic night. The Nassau show, if not the best show I've seen of the tour, holds a very close second right behind Hartford night 2. Night exploded on stage, followed by a powerful Radio Nowhere. Adam Raised the Cain was smoking hot, filled with a lot of raw, primal power driving the song to its finish. It's one that should definitely be in the set more often because thematically it fits and it rocks! The triple powerhouse of Reason, Because the Night and She's the One just about tore the roof off the joint. Nils added a firey guitar solo that made Because the Night deliriously intense. A hard-rockin' She's the One followed and had everyone up. I think Boom, Boom, Boom would fit into this slot as well and be another powerhouse song Bruce and band can kick loose on. Bruce definitely surprised me with Incident. A heartfelt and soulful version that for me, being that it's in my top 5 favorite songs, is always a treat to hear. Thanks for playing that one! A very driven Rising, Long Walk and extended Badlands had Bruce pushing himself, the band and the crowd to their limits — I'm still rockin' from those. Jungleland gave me chills. Beautiful rendition that just reminds you of what makes the E Street Band so special. Haunting lyrics, powerful message, vivid imagery and the band just putting their collective heart into it. The crowd obviously went nuts for this one and rightfully so. Tight version. Time to roadhouse with Ramrod was a surprise and a great rockin' version. Bruce and band looked as if they were having a lot of fun just cutting loose on this one. Next, we need some Pink Caddy, Stand on It or Twist and Shout thrown in for good measure. Amazing, fantastic, tight, powerful, beautiful show from start to finish. Of the close to 140 shows I've seen over the years, last night's show definitely takes a place in my top 30. Once again, thanks Bruce and band for a show that was truly legendary. Any upcoming bands looking to see what it takes to go the distance and represent rock 'n' roll at its best, taking up the torch after Elvis, Chuck Berry and so on,and managing to keep it fresh and alive as well, go see Bruce and the E Street Band and be inspired! And thanks Kyle for holding out until we scored those GAs — well worth it! Hoping to do Dublin next and maybe hearing a few more classic tracks from The River. |
