Intro to “Magic”
“Good evening, good evening! (crowd cheers) welcome back! (crowd cheers) thank you for coming out to the show tonight, our second night here in Anaheim (crowd cheers) alright, who was here last night? (crowd cheers) get out of here, no way!…now really who was here last night? (crowd cheers) alright, we´re gonna have to change it up (?)(crowd cheers) but first, our statement of purpose, uh…first, Patti sends her love (crowd cheers) I tell the folks every night we´ve got the three teenagers so, uh, as I was leaving, as I was leaving, the black helicopters were dropping off kegs of beer to my backyard…I don´t know how the kids worked that out, it´s incredible (?) black helicopters…actually beer delivery machines – all that´s just paranoia (chuckles) but, uh, we send our love out to Danny tonight (crowd cheers) thank you, he can use your support …your prayers…alright, we gotta do this one because it´s, uh…it´s good voodoo…say goodbye to eight years of horrible magic tricks (crowd cheers)…”
Intro to “Livin´ in the Future”
“Good evening, Anaheim! (crowd cheers) we´re so glad to be here in your beautiful city tonight (crowd cheers) are we having fun yet? (crowd cheers) oh, sister…alright, oh (?) this is a song called ´Livin´ in the Future´…but it´s about what´s happening now…how along with everything that we love about the place we come from, our homes…over the past eight years we´ve had to add things to the American picture like rendition and illegal wiretapping, the rolling-back of civil liberties…uh, no right to Habeas Corpus, these are all things that when I was a kid, you know, you always heard… folks always told you happened someplace else, some other country …and because of the color of your skin or your circumstance or your religion, it can feel like some of these things don´t have any immediate impact on you but they´re all an attack on our Constitution, which means they´re an attack on our very selves as Americans, the things we stand for (crowd cheers) so this is a song about sleeping through those changes and seeing things happen here that you never thought could happen but did…so the mighty E Street Band is here tonight to do something about it (crowd cheers) that´s right, we´re gonna sing about it…that´s right…we´ll see (?)
help me tell the story, Max…”
