Intro to “No Surrender”
“Good evening, fine citizens of Dublin (crowd cheers) we’re so glad to be here in your beautiful city tonight – are you ready to be transformed? (crowd cheers) are you ready to be re-born? (crowd cheers) are you ready for the last dance in Dublin? (crowd cheers) are you ready for the last dance in Dublin? (crowd cheers)…”
Intro to “Radio Nowhere”
“Is there anybody alive out there? (crowd cheers) is there anybody alive out there? (crowd cheers)…”
Intro to “Spirit in the Night”
“Good evening, Dublin (crowd cheers) can you feel the spirit? (crowd cheers) can you feel the spirit? (crowd cheers) can you feel the spirit? (crowd cheers) can you feel the spirit? (crowd cheers)…”
After “Spirit in the Night”
“Good evening, feels good out there…”
Intro to “Sandy”
“Thank you, thank you so much…alright…Patti sends her love (crowd cheers) we, uh, we have three teenagers so, uh…the fort must be guarded (chuckles) at all times (chuckles) I always tell the folks that as I was leaving, you know, the…the hash brownies were coming out of the oven (chuckles) and all my favourite clothes were being sold on eBay (laughs from the crowd) I have to get those back somehow (chuckles) she’ll watch ‘em…I also wanna thank you for all the, uh…for all the prayers and condolences for Danny, we appreciate that (crowd applauds) that’s very nice…alright, so here we go, this is for Danny…one, two, oh, maybe I’ll start this (?) the whole band…I’ll start it with the whole band tonight…”
Intro to “Growin’ Up”
“Yes, yes (crowd cheers) we’ll continue with this theme – Danny, Danny was the only member of the E Street Band that could drive me into a violent rage…and since we were – I knew him for forty years – and since we were kids, we were always, there was always trouble, a short story…uh, Danny parks his car in a tow-away zone with a huge marijuana plant on the front seat…and so the police come and they tow it away, so he comes, comes home and says “Bruce, Bruce, I’m gonna go down to the police station, I’m gonna tell ‘em that my car was stolen” (laughs from the crowd) “Nah, I don’t know, I don’t know if that’s gonna work” “No, no, no problem” …he goes down to the police station – boom! – straight into the slammer he goes (chuckles)(laughs from the crowd)…that was my man, my friend (crowd cheers)…
(…) You know, Danny’s name was Federici but…he was adopted… that red hair and freckles – I’m sure he had to be Irish (chuckles) (crowd cheers)…”
Intro to “Livin’ in the Future”
“Alright now…this is called “Livin’ in the Future”…but it’s about what’s happening now…now back home where we come from, along with all the things…that we’re proud of, we’ve had to add to the American picture over eight years things like rendition and we’ve seen the rolling-back of basic civil liberties and we’ve seen the illegal wiretapping and no Habeas Corpus, which is the right to defend yourself against charges brought against you in court, people swept up off the street – these are all things that when I was a kid, in the United States somebody told you happened someplace else but never at home…so this is a song about sleeping through changes you never thought you’d see happen – help me tell the story, Max…”
Intro to “Mary’s Place”
“Come on, bring your friends out now…oh, that’s right…let’s get everybody together…because I’m feeling so sad and lonely… sometimes I feel…so sad and lonely…and that’s when I need a little help…I need a little help (crowd cheers) I need a little support (crowd cheers) I need a little sustenance from my friends (crowd cheers)(goes into the “Are you ready?”-call-and-response routine) …”
Intro to “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out”
“Thank you, Dublin! (crowd cheers) thank you so much…come on, Max, give me the beat, give me the beat (Max goes into the beat) we wanna thank everybody for coming out to these shows…once upon a time…a long, long time ago…in a far-away land…”
Intro to “Rosalita”
“Is the band ready?…are the people ready? (crowd cheers) is the band ready?…are the people ready? (crowd cheers)…”
Towards the end of “Dancing in the Dark”
“[Bruce picks up a little girl who is so frightened that he has to hand her quickly back to her parents]…Thank you…if that keeps happening, I’m gonna be cited for child abuse, I think (chuckles)…”
Intro to “American Land”

Tallent (crowd cheers) Little Steven (crowd cheers) Sister Soozie Tyrell (crowd cheers) the Mighty, Mighty Max Weinberg (crowd cheers) Professor Roy Bittan (crowd cheers) Charlie Giordano from the Sessions Band (crowd cheers) the incredible Nils Lofgren (crowd cheers) and the biggest man you’ve ever seen: Clarence “Big Man” Clemons (crowd cheers) Dublin! (crowd cheers) Ireland! (crowd cheers) Dublin! (crowd cheers) Dublin! (crowd cheers) you’ve just seen the heart-stopping, pants-dropping, hard-rocking, earth-shocking, booty-shaking, love-making, Viagra-taking, history-making, legendary (crowd: “E Street Band”)…”
Intro to “Ramrod”
“One more for Dublin (crowd cheers)…(music starts)…come on, let’s take it home now…come on, Steve…you look good…
(…) Steve…it’s moving on time, Brother…(Steve: “I know”) I think it’s going home time…(Steve: “Are you sure?”)…is it, uh…sleepy time? (crowd: “No”)…(Steve: “No”)…is it finish time? (crowd: “No”) …it’s sexy time (crowd cheers)(Steve: “No”)…then, Steve, what I wanna know is…what time is it?…(crowd: “Boss-time”)…”

Noel | My wife Liz and I were lucky enough to met Bruce backstage 20 mins before the gig. This is an experience We both will never forget. Thanks to all who were involved in setting up that opportunity. Things like this happen once in a life time if your lucky. |
