Because the (Late) Night: Springsteen Rocks Jimmy Fallon

First of all, who else but Jimmy Fallon would have Bruce Springsteen walk onto his set to the theme song from “Who’s the Boss?” And who else but Mr. Fallon would invite him on for the entire show and then proceed to perform his (affectionate) impression of Mr. Springsteen straight to his face? Nobody, that’s who. Yes, Mr. Fallon, looking even more excited than when he got to introduce Guns N’ Roses at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards, devoted nearly an hour to the Boss, who’s out hawking an album of “Darkness on the Edge of Town” rarities and outtakes called “The Promise.” In his interview segments (the first of which appears above), Mr. Springsteen came across as a pretty gosh-darn regular kinda guy: He has an awkward relationship with his brother-in-law! He’s perplexed by modern technology! And on top of that, he stuck around to perform two songs with Mr. Fallon’s house band, the Roots. But why are we sitting here jibber-jabbering when you could be watching video from the show?

We’d hate to be the late-night talk program that has to follow a show like this. Charlie Rose, the ball is now in your court.
