“Thank you, thank you, Houston (crowd cheers) oh, a lot of big memories of coming here 40 years ago…before we came to Houston, when I, when I got signed to my record contract, none of us had ever known anybody that ever got signed on a record label and none of us had ever been on an airplane…and, uh, we used to see ‘em flying overhead in New Jersey but we were like the lost tribes of New Guinea, you know, like, sort of we knew they were there but it was magic, it was magic…so they sent us out to Los Angeles on a plane and we all became terrified of flying after one flight and we took a vote and decided we were only gonna go by train anywhere ever again and our next show was in Houston (chuckles) (crowd cheers) so we took the train from New York City all the way here (chuckles)…took a couple of days, it was really unseasonably hot and we didn’t have bunk, you know, berths or anything, we just sat up in our seats and sweated like dogs and, uh, after two days we got here and I think everybody voted for…to fly on the, Phoenix, that’s where we were going next, we played a place called Liberty Hall (crowd cheers) and, uh, Houston really took us to heart right from the beginning, this was like a great, great, great, great place for us when we started, we got so much support here, there was so much friendliness and friendship and kindness, you guys took us in so, so lovely right away that it’s always been, it’s always been, you know, there was a few places right at the beginning and this was one so we wanna say thanks for all the years of supporting us and our music, we also have some friends in the hall tonight from the Houston Foodbank, they serve those in need in 18 Southeastern Texas counties, they’re leading the fight against hunger right here in your community on the frontlines doing a good work, Houston Foodbank, if you see them on your way out, give me them a hand (crowd cheers) this is for them and for the town that adopted us so, so long ago (crowd cheers)…”
