“There I was…14 years old…fresh covered in acne…standing in front of the mirror…had nothing…felt like nothing…walked down Main Street…looked into the Western Auto window and there was a guitar in there for 18 dollars…I had never seen 18 dollars in my whole life…I had never held more than…5 dollars in my hand at once (chuckles) so I was gonna have to do the unthinkable…get a job (laughs from the crowd) now, folks, I’ve never worked an honest day in my life (laughs from the crowd)(chuckles) for 67 years (chuckles) (crowd cheers) life is good (chuckles) but I had to go to my aunt’s and for the summer I took a job as a lawn boy, mowing the lawn, trimming the hedges, painted the house…50 cents an hour…went down to the Western Auto with 20 bucks, picked up that guitar…brought it home…and started to play that thing…so fucking terribly (chuckles) (crowd cheers) I couldn’t stand myself (chuckles)…so I figured it out…playing was part of it but what was really important was you had to look really good with it (chuckles) so I got up, stood in front of the mirror, tried out a few poses (crowd cheers) that’s a good one, still use that one (crowd cheers) don’t forget that one…but when you hit the right one…when you hit the right one…when you hit the right note…and you get reborn under a rainbow *(crowd cheers) it sounds like this (goes back into the song)…”
