Bruce makes his Broadway debut with Springsteen on Broadway, a solo show at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street). Performances for Springsteen on Broadway begin Tuesday, October 3, with an official opening on Thursday, October 12. The concept began at the White House in January, when he played an acoustic concert as the Obama family's parting gift for about 250 staffers. The two-hour evening began with Bruce, dressed in black jeans and t-shirt, dedicating the show to his friend Tom Petty and sent out prayers to the late singer's family and to The Heartbreakers. The show is pretty much the same every night with Bruce on stage with his guitar, a piano, and his words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung. His mother Adele, sister Pamela, and Steven Van Zandt were in the audience. Bruce sings a snippet of The Exciters' "Tell Him" in the introduction to "Tougher Than The Rest", as he will throughout the Broadway run.
