Named after Justice Albie Sachs, revered for his heroic commitment to ending apartheid in South Africa, the Albie Awards honor courageous defenders of justice who are at great risk for what they do. Michelle Obama, Meryl Streep, Oscar Isaac, Dua Lipa, Aloe Blacc, John Oliver, Julia Roberts, and Nadia Murad are among the evening's other participants. Darren Walker, President of the Ford Foundation, joins George and Amal Clooney as hosts of the evening, which honors Justice Albie Sachs, Filipino journalist Maria Ressa, Belarusian human rights group Viasna, and Dr. Josephine Kulea of the Kenyan-based Samburu Girls Foundation.
