Springsteen Cancels Concert After Cousin’s Death

When Bruce Springsteen said he canceled a concert scheduled for Monday night in Kansas City, Mo., because of a death in the family, he meant it in both the literal and figurative senses: Reuters reported that the concert planned for the Sprint Center was canceled after the death of Lenny Sullivan, 36, who was Mr. Springsteen’s cousin and had worked with the E Street Band for 10 years, most recently as assistant road manager. A statement on Mr. Springsteen’s official Web site, brucespringsteen.net, said: “A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew, and the entire Thrill Hill family.” (Thrill Hill is the name of Mr. Springsteen’s touring company, as well as his recording studio in New Jersey.) Citing the entertainment Web site TMZ.com, Reuters reported that Mr. Sullivan was found dead in his hotel room on Monday and that the police were investigating, although the death was not being treated as suspicious. Mr. Springsteen and the E Street Band are among the artists scheduled to perform at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.
