“I was…finishing the “Wrecking Ball”-album…and I was looking for an ending…and I realized there wasn’t really gonna be an ending on that recording…there were no happy endings to be found…and I realized that I needed a song that was a ghost story…a song where the voices of the dead talk to and inform the voices of the living… and that goes on generation after generation…and as people struggle on…there’s voices all around us talking to us about their sacrifices…so this is a ghost story…imagine it’s late at night…and you’re wandering through the graveyard…and you’re listening… listening…listening…to see what you can hear…”
