Note: Most likely written, at least in part, after 9/11. Recorded at Southern Tracks, Atlanta, during February–March, 2002. Soozie Tyrell contributes violin and background vocals, Larry Lemaster and Jere Flint play the cello. V1b is a shorter radio edit issued on a US-only 1-track promotional single in 2002. V1c is the version used for the commercially released video – it is the same base recording as V1a except that it features an alternate ("live") Springsteen vocal and some mise-en-scène at the beginning.
