Winter Song

WINTER SONG 5:57 US6 / MT1 / EY / ATMF / EDR

Note: Only the one take of this haunting and evocative track circulates, recorded at 914 Sound Studios, Blauvelt on January 29–30, 1973, played by Springsteen alone on piano. Perhaps Bruce's technically best solo piano performance, but even that is overshadowed by his astonishing vocals. "Winter Song" tells a tale of two hostesses at a brothel, one submissive (summer) and the other dominant (winter), alongside the narrator's fascination with the establishment's madam.
