In late March and early April, home due to the postponed European leg, Springsteen recorded a series of acoustic home demos on a small cassette-recorder; for convenience, we have listed them together here, but the specific recording dates of each track are not known. The version of "Open All Night" recorded at this stage is a curious hybrid including lyrics later used in "This Hard Land". "Party Lights" is arranged in a rockabilly style and doesn't bear much resemblance to the song as recorded before and during sessions for The River.
