Some time between the end of the River Tour and the start of 1982, the E Street Band gathered for informal studio rehearsals, most likely at Bruce's home. The exact date and location remain uncertain. Christgau attributes tapes associated with these rehearsals to April 1982; unfinished lyrics on "Reason To Believe", however, suggest an earlier date.
