Recording sessions for Lucky Town took place between September 1991 and January 1992, though some work may have occurred as early as July. It would appear that recording began in September at Bruce's Los Angeles home studio and were then augmented at A&M Studios later in 1991; the album versions of "Better Days", "Leap Of Faith", "Living Proof", "Local Hero", and "The Big Muddy" derive from the A&M Studios sessions.
