On a Tuesday in November, Springsteen and Joe Grushecky (with Toby Scott recording and Bob Clearmountain mixing) return to the studio to complete recording on "Chain Smokin'" and "Never Be Enough Time" and to record "Homestead" with Springsteen's new music, composed over the previous few weeks to lyrics provided by Grushecky at their previous Los Angeles session. In addition to Springsteen on guitar, Grushecky's studio band for this session consisted of musicians organized by Bruce that he was utilizing for his own scattered studio sessions of the period - Zack Alford (drums), Shane Fontayne (guitar), Leon Pendarvis (keyboards), and T.M. Stevens (bass).
