Beginning sometime between January 9 and January 12, Springsteen and the E Street Band (including Steven Van Zandt) gathered for about ten days of studio sessions in the Hit Factory's Studio A to record bonus songs for the upcoming Greatest Hits release. These sessions are the first time the full E Street Band recorded in the studio together since spring 1984. The released versions of "Blood Brothers" and "Without You", the Greatest Hits versions of "Secret Garden" and "This Hard Land", and the Blood Brothers EP version of "High Hopes" were recorded during these sessions. The documentary Blood Brothers includes extensive footage of these sessions.
