Springsteen holds a solo recording session with Toby Scott to record a new solo piano version of "The Promise"; the second of two takes would be included on 18 Tracks. Some work on this track may also have been done on February 9. At the same session, he films a solo acoustic performance of Johnny Cash's "Give My Love To Rose", to be broadcast commercially on April 18, 1999 as part of the Johnny Cash Tribute special on the U.S.A.'s TNT network. Springsteen produced the session and Toby Scott recorded it; the identity of the cinematographer is unknown.
