In December 2006, producer Brendan O'Brien visited Springsteen at his New Jersey home to listen to large batch of rock-oriented songs Bruce had written The Rising; Bruce would often play them acoustically for O'Brien live as they selected a group of songs to record with the E Street Band for a new album. It was likely around this time that Springsteen recorded the original demo for "Radio Nowhere", which featured O'Brien on drums. A demo for "American Beauty" was cut during the O'Brien period, probably used as the base track for the released version; we have placed it here pending further information for convenience.
