Davis, Clive

Clive Jay Davis (born April 4, 1932, New York City, NY) is a record producer, A&R executive, and music industry chief executive on more than one occasion. He was president of Columbia Records 1967–1973, and when John Hammond auditioned Bruce Springsteen on on May 3, 1972, Davis ordered him signed to the label without delay, and oversaw his first year.
