Daniel Paul "Danny" Federici (January 23, 1950, Flemington, NJ – April 17, 2008, New York City, NY) was the longtime organ, glockenspiel, and accordion player for The E Street Band from its founding in 1972 until his death in 2008. Federici, known as "Phantom", was also a member of early Springsteen bands including Child and Steel Mill. Beginning in 1997, Federici also released four instrumental jazz solo albums. Federici passed away on April 17, 2008, having suffered for three years with melanoma. In April 2014, Federici was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The E Street Band.
