Powell, Donnie
Donnie Powell was the drummer in Bruce Springsteen's first band, The Rogues. He also drummed and sang in local bands including The Merchants (the predecessor of The Rogues), The Rising Suns, and others. In his biography Born To Run, Springsteen writes:
"I knew a drummer, Donnie Powell. We convened in his living room while his parents were out and made the most god-awful racket you've ever heard. Being able to play a little was one thing; playing 'together' was something else…uncharted territory."
