Rivera, Emedin

Emedin Rivera (born Bronx, NY) is an American percussionist. Raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Rivera began playing the bongos at age 8. His passion for music came from his father and uncle, who both played in a trio in Puerto Rico. A five-time Emmy winner, he developed his own system of playing drums and congas simultaneously — sounding like three players at once — a technique he calls "Percussion Kit." He is also widely known for his hand-made sound effects, many of which can be heard on National Geographic productions.
