Geoffrey Oryema (April 16, 1953, Soroti, Uganda – June 22, 2018, France) was an internationally renowned Ugandan musician. Oryema earned his international reputation following the release of his second album, Beat the Border. He collaborated with, among others, Peter Gabriel and was backed by French musicians including Jean-Pierre Alarcen (guitar) and Patrick Buchmann (drums, percussion, backing vocals), touring with WOMAD in Australia, the U.S.A., Japan, Brazil, and Europe.
