Moose, Rob

Rob Moose is an American musician based in New York since 2000, when he began a violin performance degree at the Manhattan School of Music. He has since established an eclectic presence in the classical and pop scenes. As violinist, Rob has performed with the Orchestra of St. Luke's at Tanglewood and Carnegie Hall. He has played concertmaster for Burt Bacharach and James Carter, violin for Savion Glover and viola for Jay-Z. Rob frequently collaborates with Sufjan Stevens on record and on stage. The two co-orchestrated seven of Sufjan's songs for a special performance that Rob conducted at the Kennedy Center with members of its Opera Orchestra. In addition to Antony and the Johnsons and Sufjan Stevens, Rob is a member of the band My Brightest Diamond. He can often be heard on Broadway playing violin and electric guitar in Duncan Sheik's musical, Spring Awakening. His discography includes "Illinois" and "Songs for Christmas" by Sufjan Stevens, "Bring Me the Workhorse" by My Brightest Diamond, "Pussy Cats" by the Walkmen and recent releases by Linda Thompson and Gene Bertoncini.
