Syd Straw (born ca. 1955, Los Angeles, CA) is an American rock singer and songwriter. The daughter of actor Jack Straw, she began her career singing backup for Pat Benatar, then took her distinct voice to the indie/alternative scene and joined the Golden Palominos (also including Michael Stipe, Matthew Sweet, and Anton Fier). She released her first album, Surprise, in 1989. Straw recorded a cover of "Meeting Across The River" for the 2000 compilation The Songs of Bruce Springsteen.
