Note: "Adelita" was originally recorded in September 1997. Substantial overdubs, including from two separate mariachi bands, as well as Ron Aniello (guitar and accordion) and Barry Danielian (trumpet), were completed later, likely around May 2014. The song contains excerpts from The Mexican Corrido: A Feminist Analysis by María Herrera-Sobek and is written within the tradition of the Mexican epic poem "La Adelita"; it pays tribute to the soldaderas, female supporters of soldiers fighting in the Mexican-American War.
