´´Thanks….wanna thank my partners down there for assistance….this is for anybody who ever had to drive through the darkness on the edge of town….´´

12.09.78 Syracuse, NY, intro to ´´Heartbreak Hotel´´
´´(?) we were just down in Ohio….(?) ´Louie Louie´ (chuckles)(?) this is a song that was, uh, written in 1955 by, by a lady by the name of Mae Axton and, uh….Hoyt Axton´s mother (chuckles)…wish my mother, if my mother wrote this song, I´d probably stayed home (chuckles) instead of going out so much but, uh….here´s one of my favorite songs about, uh, being so lonely you could die….´´

´´I grew up in this town called Freehold, New Jersey, was, uh….was about twenty miles inland from the Shore and uh….they had this big rugmill, my grandfather worked there and my father worked there for a while….it was way down at the end of lonely street….´´

´´(?)…with a lot of gas and some luck….this is ´Promised Land´….´´

´´(?)…this is, uh….I went home for, uh, two days this summer and I…drove into Asbury, you know, to see what was going on (chuckles) and, uh, there´s these, there´s these two streets, Kingsley Avenue and Ocean Avenue and they form this….big oval and every night (?) circles about 2,000 times (chuckles) I drive around big, I got a big bus, I drive around big circles now and stuff (chuckles) but, uh, this is for anybody that ever wanted to or ever went racing in the street….´´

´´There was this Robert Mitchum movie….about these moonshine-runners down south….and I never saw the movie, I only saw the poster in front of the theater…(?) and uh….but I took the title and I wrote a song ´round 1974 but I never thought there was anyplace that was…. that was really like this place in this song (chuckles) and uh….me and Steve and two friends of ours….we drove out in Reno, Nevada ´bout, uh, last summer sometime….along the highway there was this house….that this indian had built from stuff he´d scavanged off the desert and out in front he had this big picture of Geronimo and over on top it said ´Landlord´ and he had another sign, this big white sign painted in red, it said ´This is the land of peace, love, justice and no mercy´…it pointed down this little dirtroad that said ´Thunder Road´….´´

´´The Big Man !…that´s a hell of a hat (chuckles)….this is a song that was on Robert Gordon´s second album….this is (?) Di Mia….hope you look as good as your name (chuckles)….here we go….´´
