´´(someone yells out a request)(chuckles) We don´t do that one no more (chuckles) nah, I´ll do this one for you, what´s your name ?…how are you guys doing way over there ? (cheers) ….(the piano intro starts)….I grew up in this house in this….it was this small town, only about 10,000 people, I guess….and all the time I was growing up….I never knew anybody that went anywhere and did anything….and….in school, I remember when they were trying to…. trying to teach you….I remember in English class, a lot of the books and stuff, they´d try to get you to read into reading things and, and how they could make some of those books that were filled with, with such, uh….(someone: ´´Shit´´) no (?) that´s what I´m trying to say, you know, a lot of that stuff wasn´t shit, man, that was good (chuckles)…I mean some of the, some of the great writers and stuff that, that wrote with a lot of passion and a lot of fire but they, but they made it, but they had a way of making it sound boring, making it sound like (?) ….and I used to wonder that someday….if they could do that to those books….if someday somebody could do it, like, a Drifters´ record, you know, make it sound boring somehow…. because I could never get what I was, what I was needing, I could never find it in those days in school, I couldn´t find it with my friends, I could never find it at home with my folks….and it wasn´t until I turned on the radio and I started to hear some of the stuff that was coming out in those days that, uh….I got a feeling that….that there was a whole lot more to living…. than what I saw my father doing and my mother doing and my friends doing….you know, and ….it was at a time….it was, partly I guess I got scared, you know….watching my old man disappear before my eyes….that I decided that it wasn´t gonna happen to me….and….and you shouldn´t let it happen to you either….but you gotta fight….´´
