17.08.84 Meadowlands, NJ, intro to ´Highway Patrolman´
´´This is a song about, uh….duty….and responsobility, I guess….don´t always mix with what´s in your heart….”

17.08.84 Meadowlands, NJ, intro to ´I´m Goin´Down´
´´This is a song, uh….here´s a song about relationships, how…you know when you first meet somebody….and you´re kissing all the time and holding hands every place you go….you know, it´s like, if you´re gonna go out to the movie, she says ´Oh, honey, I don´t care, we can see whatever you wanna see´, you say ´No, we can see whatever you wanna see´….you know, whatever they wear, like, ´Oh honey, you look so beautiful tonight´ and ´So do you´ ….you know and like ´Gee, do you wanna go out tonight ?´, ´Oh, I don´t care what we do as long as I´m with you´…you know, all that, all that stuff….and then slowly it goes along and then, ´No, I don´t wanna see ´Road Warrior´, no, I wanna see ´Kramer vs.Kramer´´ (chuckles)….and then ´Do you have to go out in that shirt ?´….and eventually it boils down to a cold hard stare….”

17.08.84 Meadowlands, NJ, intro to ‘Glory Days’
´´Here´s a song about….old times….now, the older you get….the more old times there are….I got my share….Clarence´s got more than me, though….this is kind of a song about everybody that comes up to you at night….if you´re out in some bar…telling you about how great the old times were….now, personally…I´m enjoying the new times…. but when I was a child….I played with childish things….then I became a man….and I played with childish things on Friday and Saturday night…..(?)….here´s to the oldies but goodies out there….”

17.08.84 Meadowlands, NJ, intro to ´My Hometown´
´´Oh, this is….this is a song, I guess….I wrote this song, I thought I was just….writing a song about the town I grew up in….but uh, I guess it´s a song about….kind of….accepting the responsobility of being a part of something, a part of some place and a part of some people ….and…I guess this, this here, this is our place and….this town and this state and this country …what happens kind of happens in all our names….and we all kind of share….share the glory and the shame of the best and the worst of it….this is your hometown….”

17.08.84 Meadowlands, NJ, intro to ´Follow That Dream´
´´Oh, thanks…this is uh….I guess this is a song just about not giving up…trying to hold on to something, find something worth holding on to….trying (?), trying to find somebody who will cheer you on a little bit….”

17.08.84 Meadowlands, NJ, intro to ´Pink Cadillac´
´´Now, this is a song….about the conflict….between worldly things and spiritual health…. between the desires the flesh….and spiritual ecstasy….between the mansion on the hill and the mansion in the sky, between the cynics and the sceptics and the true believers, now what I wanna know….is how many of you out there tonight believe….that if you should die, and I hope this doesn´t happen, if you should die during the show due to excitement….that you´re gonna go to heaven ? (cheers)….now, how many of you out there think that if you should pass away due to cardiac arrest or some other terminal illness during the final moments that it´s possible that you may….take the down elevator ? (cheers)….now, me personally, I know I´m gonna go to heaven….now, I´ll miss the band….they´re gonna have to pack the Bermuda shorts….you see ´cause in the beginning….He created the heavens and the earth and the Lord sat back and said ´This is good´…and….on the Second Day, He grew hungry and He created the cheeseburger and the Lord sat back and said ´This is good´ ….on the Third Day, He grew hot and He created air-conditioning and the Lord sat back and said ´This is good´…on the Fourth Day, He created rock and roll….and the Lord sat back and said ´This is good´ …..on the Fifth Day and the Sixth and the Seventh….He decided He needed to take his baby for a ride and….He created the pink Cadillac …. and the Lord sat back and said….´This is wild´….”

17.08.84 Meadowlands, NJ, middle of ´Backstreets´
´´And we swore on it….that night we swore on it….I said if he got out first, I´d help you…. and if you got out first, you´d help me….and we swore on it and we said it´d be forever and forever….we said that it´d last forever….and forever….and forever….and then you said it was nothing but a promise….then you said it was nothing but a promise….
