17.10.92 Calgary, Canada, intro to ´Local Hero´
´´Thank you….hello Calgary…alright…this next song I was, uh, I was driving through the town I grew up in….I looked over in a department store window and I seen like a picture of a German shepherd, then there was a Doberman, then there was me, then there was Bruce Lee, all painted lovingly on black velvet….underneath it said ´Sale 19.99´….so it kind of put the whole job right in perspective for me once and for all (chuckles)….”

17.10.92 Calgary, Canada, intro to ´Lucky Town´
´´Oh….alright….are you feeling lucky tonight, that´s what I (chuckles)….”

17.10.92 Calgary, Canada, intro to ´The Big Muddy´
´´Thank you….this is a song, uh….I think when we´re, when we´re kids, we´re all kind of brought up to believe in like absolutes, you know….your mom and your daddy teach you that there´s good and there´s evil and there´s right, there´s wrong….and then, uh, kind of as you get a little older, you find about all those spaces in-between….and I think that´s where most of us end up living….so….this is a song kind of about slipping through all those cracks….”

17.10.92 Calgary, Canada, intro to ´57 Channels´
´´In 19…early 60´s, I was 13 or 14 when I was seeing….the riots sweep through the country ….it´s 1992…..you see American cities in flames again…..you reap what you sow….”

17.10.92 Calgary, Canada, intro to ´If I Should Fall Behind´ (following ´Living Proof´)
´´Oh, thank you, thanks….oh….I wrote that song, uh, I wrote that last song a little bit after my, my son was born….yeah, I got a, uh, I got a beautiful son now, a beautiful daughter (chuckles) it´s nice….they´re scary, though, those kids are scary….they, uh….they´re always kind of, you know, I think we spend so much time living inside of our heads….and uh….kids, they kind of, you know, they keep telling you to come out, come out, come out into the real world and play with ´em….that´s good but it´s a scary, it´s kind of a scary….it´s a scary time to be bringing up kids, we just lived kind of through the L.A.riots back home and….and that was just, it was frightening to find that there was a day when….when it didn´t matter what you thought, it didn´t matter where you stood or what you believed in in your heart or, or, uh ….the only thing that mattered was what you looked like as to whether you were gonna live or die….that´s uh…..that´s a scary….man, I started thinking I really don´t wanna bring my kids up in a country or a city where….it seemed like the ice is so thin, you know….but uh, so ….we got a big election home, gonna get my vote out…..you guys got one coming up here too, right ? (cheers) gotta get out there and get involved somehow….kids, they, uh….you know, they kick your, kick your ass out of feeling apathetic (chuckles) it´s good (chuckles) ….´cause they´re kind of the afterlife, anyway….I guess this is a song about….maybe it´s my best song about connection, you know, so…..”

17.10.92 Calgary, Canada, intro to ´Leap of Faith´
´´Yeah, kids….well, this is a song, uh….let me say, this is a song….actually this next portion of the show is kind of the, the romantic portion of the show, it´s kind of where I kind of compete for that Neil Diamond….ticket a little bit and uh….do we have any divorcees out there, speaking of romance ? (cheers) oh ! alright, everybody deserves a second chance (chuckles) this is a song about, uh, let me see, it´s a song about faith, that´s right, faith and uh, in search of love, where there´s love, there´s faith, where there´s faith, there´s hope and where there´s hope, there´s sex, that´s how it works (chuckles)….just, it goes just like that so (chuckles)….anyway, this is a song about all those things, love, faith, hope, sex, divorce, adultery, all the things that make life such a big fucking mess and uh….uh….it´s also, it´s also a diary of my own personal sexual habits in just thinly disgr, just thinly disguised imagery so …. listen up close (laughs) ´cause this is how I like to do it (chuckles)….”

17.10.92 Calgary, Canada, middle of ´Light of Day´
´´I came 3,000 miles all the way from the great state of New Jersey just to be here tonight…. I came here because I´m on a mission, I´ve got one thing I´ve got to know….I came via Sweden….I came via France….via Italy, via Rome, via Chicago, via London, England, via New York City, via the great Midwest, via (?) south Texas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver here to Calgary tonight….I´m here tonight ´cause there´s one thing I need to know ….I know you´re downhearted….I know you´re depressed….I know you´re disillusioned….I know you´re disenchanted….I know there´s 57 fucking channels and nothing on….so what I need to know is….is there anybody still alive out there ? (cheers)….”

17.10.92 Calgary, Canada, intro to ´Human Touch´
´´Man, I gotta come up here more often, I think….hell, I´d´ve been up here sooner (?) (chuckles) you guys are something else….”

17.10.92 Calgary, Canada, intro to ´Thunder Road´
´´Thank you….thanks….I´d like to take a second and thank everybody for coming out to the show tonight….(?) gee, I haven´t been up here, now all I can say this is really been a helluva reception, thanks a lot (chuckles)….oh man….it was good….anyway, I´d like to do this for all my old fans out there, I appreciate you sticking with me….yeah….”
