“Good evening, Asbury Park (crowd cheers) welcome to the world-famous…air-conditioned Convention Hall (crowd cheers) I swear the air-conditioning will become effect…I don’t know when…but someday…everything comes back…this is the first song I wrote for the new record…and it’s a song about…when things…have happened here that we thought could never happen here…how along with all the things that we love about America has…cheeseburgers…hot dogs at the Max’s and the Windmill…the Jersey Shore (crowd cheers) Beachwood Motorcycles…we now have to add to the list: rendition, illegal wiretapping…torture…voter suppression, no right to a lawyer when you’re arrested…those are things that…are not only un-American, they are anti-American and they happened as we’ve been sleeping…”

(crowd cheers) alright, a beautiful night out there…here I come…it’s nice and cool in here too (crowd: “Yeah” and laughs) that fall weather, we love that fall weather… alright, this is for everybody out on the beach, “Girls in their summer clothes” (crowd cheers)…”

“Alright…we’re just getting this one under our belt…this was the first song I wrote, I wrote this before “Rosalita” and…when the band was a five-piece, there was me, Clarence, Danny, Garry, Mad Dog Vincent Lopez, wherever he may be (some cheers) and, uh, we learned this as our first show-stopper ‘cause…nobody noticed, we had to do something weird to let people remember us and (?)…”

“I wanna thank everybody for coming to our shows here in Asbury Park (crowd cheers)…and, uh, gonna spread your money around, there’s some good folks here helping bring Asbury Park back, to keep it alive (crowd cheers) oh, thanks, everybody out there on the beach…all the folks who have supported us from when we were first here…a lot of great new spots opened up downtown, you should check out Cookman Avenue, go visit Lance and Debbie (crowd cheers) across the street from Wonder Bar…(?)…Clarence was playing at the Wonder Bar (crowd cheers)(?) and he came over to Student Prince, which is the strip club down the street from the Stone Pony, and that’s where we met and formed our life-long friendship…in about twenty minutes…without even speaking (chuckles) oh man (?)…we got some friends of ours here tonight from the Sessions Band who stopped in to see us (crowd cheers)… this man will now play the smallest trumpet ever played, ever played in the world (chuckles)…but uh…oh, thank you for coming out and checking out all our new music (crowd cheers)(?)…we’re, uh…in a very, very important place in American history now so please step up and let your voice be heard…and…let freedom ring…”
