“Good evening, Hartford (crowd cheers) and all of Connecticut (crowd cheers) we’re so glad to be here in your beautiful city tonight (crowd cheers) that’s right – give me a little more (?) – but we’re here tonight with a purpose…now, first and foremost we’re here to fulfil our solemn vow to rock the house (crowd cheers) but we’re also here tonight to build a house…that’s right, we’re gonna build a house right in this room tonight…we’re gonna take fear and build a house of love…we’re gonna take doubt and build a house of faith…we’re gonna take despair and build a house of hope…we’re gonna take sadness and build a house of joy…we’re gonna take that (cooling off?) and we’re gonna build a house of sexual healing… that’s right… we’re gonna use the bad wood, we’re gonna use the good wood, we’re gonna use the bad news and we’re gonna use the good news that’s out there…we got all the tools we need right here on stage tonight and out there in those seats…and we’re gonna build a house of music and spirit and noise…now the mighty E Street Band is here tonight to bring down the power of the music (crowd cheers) but we need you to bring the noise (crowd cheers very loudly) now sing it like you mean it…”

“Alright, I’m gonna send this one out to Patti tonight, Patti’s been laid up in bed…she fell off her horse…but she wasn’t, it wasn’t the same horse that Madonna fell off of, this was a different horse…but, uh…she bruised herself up quite bad and she’s been awful sore, then I gave her whiplash driving her to the hospital so…that didn’t help either but I wanna send this one out to her – love you, baby…”

“Thank you so much for coming to the show tonight (crowd cheers) thank you so much…woo!…alright…”Wild Thing,” I don’t think we ever played that one before…that was one of my favourites, man… one of the greatest…oh…thank you so much for coming out, we got …some friends in the house tonight, folks from the Hartford Food System…30 years ago a group of concerned citizens came together to form the Hartford Food System, since 1978 they’ve provided healthy food to Connecticut’s hungry and struggling citizens, they’ve established programs that address the root causes of hunger here in your community, they are the good folks out on the frontline doing God’s work, all you gotta do is pick up the newspapers today and see the millions of jobs that’ve been lost, people are struggling to simply survive, these organizations like the Hartford Food System are the safety net that they depend upon in these very, very tough times, please support them (crowd cheers) thank you…I’m gonna send this one out to those folks tonight, this was written in 1855 by Stephen Foster, it’s gonna called “Hard Times Come Again No More”…”
