Charlie's Place, formerly located at 1 Bow Street, Cambridge, MA was the site of several shows in April 1974, seen by photographer Barry Schneier. Having seen Springsteen perform to a packed house at Charlie’s Place, Barry told a promoter, Ira Gold, he should book this new guy for a show. Schneier played Gold the two Springsteen records that were out, Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle. After going to see Bruce at Charlie’s place themselves, Gold and his partner ended up booking Springsteen for the opening slot on May 9, 1974, Harvard Square Theatre.
