Joint In The Woods (The), Parsippany, NJ

The Joint In The Woods was a club that hosted many famous musicians in the early 1970s, opened around Christmas 1973. As the name suggests, it was located in woodland at 400 Smith Road, Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, commonly known as Parsippany, but it was the "Joint", not the "Woods", that became the club's undoing. On March 12, 1975, after a year of legal challenges, the Township's council succeeded in forcing a name and business philosophy change, as it fought to uphold "the generally accepted standards of fitness and good taste" in the community." It all became academic on September 11, 1977, as the renamed "Inn the Woods" discotheque burned to the ground.
It was not a big venue, it maybe held about 1500 people, and the owners were getting a lot of flack from the Parsippany government and residents, particularly for the name and the noise. So it was not uncommon to have bands cancel.

Springsteen did 2 performances, excl. rehearsals, at this venue.
